Powered Up More Sustainably in India

To optimize our energy consumption by installing energy-efficient solutions and using relevant renewable energies, our sites in India have initiated projects in Gokak and Naidupet.

Biomass energy in Gokak

Situated in the Belgaum district of state of Karnataka, the site in Gokak is ideally surrounded by sugarcane fields. This geographical situation is an opportunity for Roquette to use the biomass energy.

The bagasse, a by-product of the sugarcane culture, is a perfect combustible that helps valorize all the raw material of sugarcane agriculture and supply our plant with renewable energy.

Thanks to the biomass energy project developed by our teams in Gokak, we will replace approximately 50% of coal with bagasse. This project is a perfect example of optimizing our energy consumption while reducing energy costs of our plant!

Solar panels in Naidupet

To reduce our environmental footprint, our plant in Naidupet has also installed solar panels that enable more efficient energy consumption. This new installation can reduce the use of coal energy, but also reduce our fossil carbon emissions by 14,000 kg each year!

Indian sites aim to be at the forefront of sustainable development with these green initiatives and contribute significatively to reduce our environmental footprint in the long term.
