USDA Label to Highlight Two Biobased Products

Roquette has earned the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Certified Biobased Product label for two products. BIOSUCCINIUM® succinic acid and the products of the POLYSORB® isosorbide range are now able to display a unique USDA label that highlights their percentage of biobased content. It shows that they contain 100% USDA certified biobased content.

The USDA BioPreferred Program is an initiative created by the 2002 Farm Bill to increase the development, purchase, and use of biobased products. The USDA Certified Biobased Product label displays a product’s biobased content, which is the portion of a product that comes from a renewable source, such as plant, animal, marine, or forestry feedstocks.

Biobased products are cost-comparative, readily available, and perform as well as or better than their conventional counterparts.

“This makes our portfolio of performance materials completer and more attractive as alternative solutions for many industries like automotive, packaging and coatings. We receive a lot of requests from our customers and prospects for certifications like the USDA BioPreferred Program which appeals to consumers. We are proud of this achievement that will benefit our customers, consumers and the planet,”

– Franck Thumerel, Head of Performance Materials at Roquette.
